     MOULAGE -"The Art of Injury Simulation"

 

A four-day (32 hr.) intensive, hands-on training course
 The price for the course is $350.00  per student. 
If you attend our
course hosted at a location other than Carson City, the price may vary.

If we are contracted to instruct at your location, the course is designed for 12 students.  If less than 12 students attend, the course fee will be for 12 students.  Cost to contract at your location will also include travel, lodging, meals, and shipment of classroom materials. All training materials are provided by Image Perspectives.

Each student will receive illustrated reference materials, a Certificate of Achievement, and will keep all of the simulations they create during the course.

****NOTE:  If you are planning on attending a pre-conference "crash-course", all above materials will be                       provided excluding Certificate of Achievement. Also, a truncated agenda will replace the agenda listed below to accommodate conference needs.  Cost of course will vary by confrence.

CLASS AGENDA

DAY ONE:

 Introduction to moulage materials and tools.

Working with Effects gel/gelefects and skin-tone makeup:   Create the basic simulation piece.  Application of the basic piece to the skin; blending edges. Application of makeup to match skin tone; tricks and techniques.  "Setting" the makeup.  Removal of the simulation.  Create minor wounds using Effects Gel/gelefects: Scratches.  Abrasions.  Minor lacerations.  Latex & gelefects: blood tumor hematoma.  Sculpy:  Creating bones.

DAY TWO:

Advanced Soft-tissue wounds:  Fat and muscle tissue, using Effects Gel/gelefects, deep lacerations, open fractures, large open wounds, gunshot entrance/exit  wounds, sucking chest wound with demonstration, closed fractures (angulation, swelling, hematoma).Using makeup:  Shock (cyanosis, diaphoresis).  Contusions / peripheral bruising.  Aging of bruises.

DAY THREE:

Using Effects Gel/gelefects:   Avulsion with skin flap.  Blisters for 2nd degree burn.W M D Simulations: Biological - Rash (erythema), smallpox, anthrax, plague, etc. Chemical -  Vesicants (blistering agents), nerve agents, chemical burns, etc.Burns:  Using "DermaCrisp" to create full-thickness fire/explosion burns with crisp, black skin.  Second degree burns using effects gel blisters and creation of broken blisters and peeling skin.  Makeup to create first degree burns.  Discuss & *demonstrate airbrush techniques.

*Airbrush is demonstrated only at Carson City classes unless special arrangements are made.

DAY FOUR

Impaled Objects   Amputation of arm at elbow / leg at knee  Discussion & demonstration:   amputation of arm at shoulder,  partial amputations, using prosthetics .   Special effects discussion:   Salivation, rhinorrhea, diaphoresis, tearing, vomit, etc..  Bleeding injuries using blood pumps.  Mouth and dental trauma.   Special effects demo including:   “real time”  bleeding.  Smoke and electrical simulation and more.

DAY FIVE

"MOULAGE - Enhanced Techniques"    prerequisite -   "MOULAGE -The Art of Injury Simulation"

A one day addition to our standard course, this intensive, hands-on  training is to provide personalized tips and tricks on moulage technique and advanced injury simulations including eye injuries and eviscerations.   

Includes details for setting up the moulage portion of Disaster and Pharmaceutical Exercises. The price of this additional
course is $125.00 per student, with no minimum and a maximum of 12 students.

This Exercise Design Course is a one day course that gives you and your agency all the skills and tools necessary to design, coordinate, and implement a disaster exercise, regardless of size or type. From inception to evaluation, this course will show you the step by step method for conducting a productive exercise.  It also shows you how to avoid the pitfalls and problems you could encounter.  The course includes all forms needed for your exercise design.  16 CEU's available.

RESERVATIONS may be made by phone, fax, email or "snail" mail. To hold your reservation, please remit payment prior to 6 weeks ahead of scheduled class. 
CANCELLATION POLICY:  100 % of class fee is refundable if cancellation is made
BEFORE 4 weeks prior to scheduled class. Cancellations less than 4 weeks prior to
class will incur a $75.00 cancellation fee if vacancy cannot be filled.
